Devon County Show Qualifying Round of the
BPA Pig of the Year Award

Judge:
Pig Judging Rings - Friday 17th May at 11.00 am

A condition of entering the competition is that prize winners must intend to exhibit at the Final. The award is open to all breeds of pedigree pigs entered in your Show. The object is to determine the best modern and traditional breed pigs as an example of their respective breeds. To be eligible for a qualifying round a pig (male or female) must be born on or after 1st July 2016.

At each qualifying round the judge will select the Best Male from a Modern breed, Best Male from a Traditional breed, Best Female from a Modern breed, Best Female from a Modern breed, Best Pig and and Reserve Best Pig. Winners of the heats to receive rosettes and glass trophies. In the Final the Male and Female Champions will each receive £120, Reserve Champions £60, Overall Champion £200 and a glass trophy, and Reserve £150.

The Best Males Modern and Traditional and the Best Females Modern and Traditional from each of the qualifying rounds will qualify for the Final to be held at the Great Yorkshire Show. At the Final the Male and Female Champions will receive £120 and Reserve Champions £60, Overall Champion £200 and The Geoffrey Cloke Memorial Salver, and Reserve £150. A travel allowance of 10p per mile will be paid by the Great Yorkshire Show to exhibitors attending the final.

Note: Rosettes only will be presented at each preliminary round. Prize monies and glass trophies for preliminary rounds will be presented at the Final.
