This class is open to both Standard and Miniature Shetland Ponies and is run under the rules of the Shetland Pony Stud Book Society. All animals must be registered in the Shetland Pony Stud Book.

Children under 12 years old on the day of the Show may not show entire males in this class. Ridden Stallions must display a Stallion bridle badge. In order to enter a stallion class at an affiliated show, entire males aged 4 years old and over must have an "S" number and have been successfully through either the BPSBS stallion assessment prior to 2006 or the current SPSBS voluntary veterinary examination. SPSBS rules require hard hats to be worn by all exhibitors in ridden classes. If a rider falls off at any time whilst in the ring, both pony and rider must leave the ring, rider dismounted, and take no further part. Handlers of lead rein exhibits are reminded that they should not kneel but remain standing while in the ring.

These classes are qualifiers for the NPS/Ringside M&M Open Ridden Summer Championship - Qualification only eligible for ponies shown off the lead. Owners do not have to be NPS members to enter these classes but only ponies owned by NPS Qualifying or Life Members can qualify for the final. The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. To receive qualification owner's membership cards must be shown in the ring.
